Ozma And A Flood Of Memories
I am really getting to love YouTube. As fun as it is to see a monkey dressed like a business man driving a car and various things of that nature I really enjoy all the lost gems from the past I can unearth with YouTube. Old sports plays, tv shows, and best of all music.
Many moons ago me and some friends set out to Liberty Memorial to see Weezer in concert. Weezer lived up to the high expectations and put on a show worthy of the Pinkerton album they released not long ago. Before they came on I was talking to my friends generally uninterested in the no name band that was setting up their instruments until the lights dimmed and they started to play. Ozma was busting out a percussion heavy rockish version of the Tetris theme song Korenbeiniki. It was fun and it got our attention; you can listen below.
The rest of the set was fresh and very well put together. I remember rushing home to listen to the CD I purchased at the concert. They have these story telling songs that really pull you in while adding what I can only describe as nerdy Nintendo-esque keyboard riffs that add to the unique sound. I found two videos that made me remember all that excitment.
The first one is an actual music video; one of only a handful in Ozma’s career. Nerd rock at its finest.
The second video is from a concert. For a recording from the crowd of a show like that the audio is impressive. You really get that rush that comes with being a apart of a smallish show. The energy that builds up in the middle of this song is awesome.
